Things To Do

SAW’s Soul Kitchen

215 41st Street South, Birmingham, AL 35222

If there's one thing you must do in Birmingham, it's go to Saw's bbq. There are multiple locations throughout town, so you have no excuses. Liz’s favorite is the pulled pork sandwich (drenched in bbq sauce) with fried okra on the side. Albert likes the pork n’ greens.

Birmingham Botanical Gardens

2612 Lane Park Road, Birmingham, AL 35223

The botanical gardens should be in full bloom in late April and are a beautiful, free place to get outside and stretch your legs.

The Rougaroux

817 39th Street South, Birmingham, AL 35222

For all our Midwestern friends surviving off cheese curds and bratwursts, take advantage of the food scene in Birmingham while you can. The Rougaroux serves up traditional cajun food.

Vulcan Park and Museum

1701 Valley View Drive, Birmingham, AL 35209

Visit Vulcan, the largest cast-iron statue in the world, for great views of downtown Birmingham. Liz grew up about a mile away, right in the shadow of his booty.
