How we met

Once upon a time there were two scheming mothers...

Our story actually started when our mothers met at a ladies event that Elizabeth's mom, Marie, was helping host at her church in September 2019. Aaron's mom, Shannon, brought a group of her church ladies to the event. Marie and Shannon bonded over being pastor's wives and became fast friends. As Marie and Shannon got to know each other and shared about their families, they both thought that we (Aaron and myself) should meet. The moms started planning a family dinner for spring 2020, but then Covid. Family dinner finally happened on July 10, 2020. I honestly did not want to go. From the beginning, I was hesitant to go and wanted no part of it, but I love my mom so I went. When my family first got to dinner, I avoided Aaron, and he did nothing but notice me. He even noticed how precisely I cut my food. (I'm not making that up; ask him.) The conversations at dinner broke the ice and our families started to get a long well. While some of our siblings started playing games, Aaron and I just stood there and talked for quite a while. Later, Shannon suggested we go upstairs and sing some worship songs. Shannon volunteered her husband Jay to play the piano while Aaron and his sister Anna sang. They are so good! It was almost like our own personal concert. However, it was hard to worship when you are distracted by the cute boy with the amazing voice. I had to close my eyes to sing because I was surprisingly finding Aaron a distraction. The visiting continued at Jay and Shannon's house. Aaron and I were sitting on the sofa having a nice conversation (about horses, I think), but then he had to leave. I was a little sad to see him go, but my family was leaving too. Not long after we'd gotten in the car, my mom texts me and says that Aaron was kicking himself for not getting my number and he asked Shannon to get it for him. I gave Mom the go ahead and my number was shared. Not even 10 minutes later a text came through, and we've been getting to know each other ever since.
