Things To Do

Restaurants

Chicago is known for its many restaurants and fantastic dining scene. Below is a list of some of our favorites located within walking distance of The Langham Hotel. This is by no means a comprehensive list so please feel free to venture out. Enjoy! Brunch/Lunch • Yolk $$ (.1 miles) • Land & Lake Kitchen $$ (.2 miles) • Beatrix $$ (.4 miles) • Sweetwater Tavern and Grille $$ (.3 miles) Deep Dish Pizza (NY Style will always be better!) • Pizzeria Uno $$ (.3 miles) • Lou Malnati's $$ (.2 miles) • Giordano's $$ (.6 miles) Tapas • The Purple Pig $$$ (.3 miles) • Lil Ba-ba-Reeba! $$ (.3 miles) Steakhouses • Maple and Ash $$$$ (1 mile) • Bavette's Bar and Boeuf $$$$ (.5 miles) • Smith & Wollensky $$$ (.1 miles)

Bars

There are many bars and restaurants in the area to grab a drink. Our favorite, Untitled Supper Club, has an amazing whiskey bar and craft cocktails. Check out any of the rooftops for amazing views of the river, lake, and skyline. Bars • 320 River Bar (.1 miles) • Upstairs at The Gwen (.3 miles) • Untitled Supper Club (.3 miles) • Barstool River North (.2 miles) • Raised (.2 miles) • Radio Room (.1 miles) • The London House Rooftop (.2 miles)

Chicago Air and Water Show

1600 N. Lake Shore Dr., Chicago, IL 60613

While we tried to plan around this event due to the increased traffic that it brings to the downtown area, the City of Chicago moved the date to coincide with our wedding weekend. However, this is an amazing show that we look forward to watching every year! The show takes place on Saturday and Sunday on the lakefront, with North Ave beach as the central point. Friday is practice day and arguably the best day to watch as the crowds are limited. Even if you don't go to the lakefront to watch it, you will surely see the Blue Angels buzzing the rooftops and it's impossible not to hear them no matter where you are.

Walk the River or the Lake Shore Path

Wabash and Chicago River,

Go for a walk on the river! The Langham Hotel is situated right on the Chicago River. There are access stairs on most of the North/South streets. Just go for a stroll or stop in at the many bars and restaurants along the river walk. Our favorite is City Winery where you can grab a drink and appetizers. If you feel like stretching your legs a bit more, head to the Lake Shore. The Lake Shore path extends for miles in each direction. The nearest entrance is Ohio Street Beach. It's a 6 min Uber or 20-minute walk from the Langham. Once on the lake path walk as far as you like and enjoy the views. Please note that the lakefront will be very crowded on Saturday and Sunday during Air and Water Show hours (10am - 3pm).
