We have been together for 12 years. We met when we were teenagers, working at a grocery store for an after-school job. Our flirting around the register extended to finding any excuse to bump into each other (like Elizabeth constantly checking her work schedule hoping Nik might be on shift while she was there). On Valentine's day we went on our first date to go see a movie. To say it was awkward is a bit of an understatement, but Nik has the patience of a saint and decided to stick with it. We moved on from high school, and our relationship survived long distance at different colleges for a year before we came back into the same area and began working together again at a car dealership. We had a couple bumps along the way, but we always came back together stronger than ever. Fast forward to today, we work together (again!) at a software company pursuing our careers and have lived together for the past 6 years. When we decided we were ready to get married, we went ring shopping together and Nik proposed by hiding the ring in our apartment and having Elizabeth try to find it. He picked a really clever hiding spot, because it took two full days to find the ring. Elizabeth tore the apartment asunder, and needed the assistance of the "hot-cold" game. Eventually she managed to find it after pulling the mattress off the bed. When she finally did find the ring, he said "The amount of effort you put into looking for this ring further proves to me how much you really want to be married to me."
