It all started in the summer of 2009, when we were both invited to a youth leadership seminar at Pepperdine University (ironically, we were both invited by the same person). We met in the cafeteria during one of the lunch breaks where Elizabeth was teaching a group of people to play a game (a game, that to this day, Micah lacks the coordination to play). Fast-forward three years later to September 5th 2012, our relationship "officially" began.
Roughly 8 years, 6 months and 22 days after we met at Pepperdine, I asked Elizabeth to marry me. The proposal took place in Malibu, California on February 3rd. I had moved to Chicago and Elizabeth had been traveling, so I planned to use her birthday as the perfect decoy for my trip back to California. Apart from her stunning good looks, there are three things you need to know about Elizabeth: 1. She loves adventures 2. She loves sunsets 3. She loves wine, cheese & hummus Therefore, the perfect proposal needed to involve all three. So, I decided to propose during a sunset picnic (including wine, cheese & hummus) at one of our favorite hiking spots. With the help of some friends, we managed to get Elizabeth to the park, despite the fact that she was insistent on celebrating her birthday at Malibu Wines. Fortunately, she said YES! (even though I forgot half of my speech because I was so excited). We went back to my parent's house for an evening of celebration with friends and family, including the final surprise...a puppy.
