How this love story began…

The first time Eliza and Jason laid eyes on each other was on Friday, September 16, 2016, in San Diego. He was there for an adventurous weekend with the boys while she was in town with her sister for a Luke Bryan concert, but they both happened to be staying at the Marriott Marquis. After hearing so much about each other through their friend, Louis, they were finally able to meet at the hotel when Louis invited her to hang out with them. When they were introduced, Eliza thought to herself, “Wow! Jason is super cute!” Meanwhile, after seeing her do the cutest little curtsy he had ever seen, he thought to himself, “Wow, Eliza is beautiful, too bad she has a boyfriend already.” Little did they know, a week later, Eliza would be single again. Although the initial spark was there during that first meeting, they decided to take their time getting to know each other. Then on July 22, 2017, after countless hours of calling and texting and spending as much time together as they could, they officially became boyfriend and girlfriend. Four years later, they hit another major milestone.

The proposal…

Eliza had shared with Jason during their years of dating that her dream marriage proposal would be caught on film and take place in the presence of both their families and her life-long best friend, Danielle. This seemed like a simple request up until the world found itself dealing with a global pandemic. As the end of 2020 neared, guidelines started to ease for family gatherings. This was the break Jason needed to make Eliza’s dream come true. But first, he had to make sure she didn’t see it coming, which he did by telling her he wasn’t able to purchase the engagement ring in time. While she was disappointed by this, it gave him the opportunity to truly make this a surprise. Unfortunately, Jason’s master plan started to fall apart when his mom couldn’t attend the Christmas Eve party after testing positive for Covid-19, which also meant his brothers had to quarantine because of contact guidelines. On top of all this, Danielle was spending Christmas in Northern California. Despite these bumps, he decided to move forward with his plan. On December 24, 2020, Eliza’s family and Jason’s sister gathered together for a special night of eating, playing games, and opening presents. After several games of Bingo, he nervously walked up to her and asked her to take off her mask. She said, “Why?” and he insisted that she take off her mask because she looked hot. She didn’t want to remove it because of the guidelines and was confused by what he was asking her to do, but she reluctantly removed her mask. He pulled out a red box and dropped down to one knee and proposed. Shocked and surprised, she started hitting him with her mask before saying, “YES!” Shortly after, their sisters revealed that Jason’s family and Danielle’s family were on Zoom and had seen their special moment. Eliza was ecstatic–Jason had surprised her with her dream proposal. Tears of joy were shed and the rest of Christmas Eve was full of love, excitement, and well wishes for the newly engaged lovebirds.
