The Future Royers

It all began with a 'swipe right'.... As Elissa was scrolling through the dating app Hinge, she came across a profile that said "Go to a sports game with me and drink an over priced beer with me." Elissa was into that and right away became interested so she swiped right. "YOU MATCHED" popped up, and that's where their story began.... After about a week of exchanging awkward texts back and forth over teaching, Chicago, the Cubs, Wrigley Field, and the Grand Canyon, Chasan decided to ask Elissa out for a drink at a dive bar called Dukes (August 5th, 2019). They sat and talked for a while before Chasan asked Elissa what she was doing the following night and if she wanted to go to the Diamondbacks game. She said yes (and got giddy inside)! Elissa and Chasan finished up their conversation and were leaving Dukes when Chasan said "I'll text you tomorrow about the game once I talk to my dad and Uncle about the plan." Elissa was confused as she was not expecting to go on her second date with Chasan, his dad, and his uncle, but Elissa was very interested in Chasan so she went with the flow and ended up having a great time at the game. The Dbacks games and overpriced beers continued.... and yes, with his dad and Uncle! Within a month of dating Chasan and Elissa had met each other’s families and were spending most of their time together (including a weekend camping trip with friends). Things were going great, but little did Chasan know what he was getting himself into as Elissa’s 30th birthday was approaching. For those that know her, you know that her birthday is her favorite holiday. She does not celebrate a birthDAY but rather a birthMONTH. Their life was soon taken over by dinners, happy hours, friends coming into town, her family of course making it a huge deal and ending it with a 30th birthday party with over 40 people in attendance. Chasan had met more people in that week than he ever expected in a year.

He went home the Sunday morning after her birthday, got into bed and pretty sure slept for the next week and questioned ever texting her again. Ha! (But, thankfully he did! Now, fast forward to March. COVID had struck and the world went into lockdown. At that time, Elissa had travel nurses living with her who worked in the COVID units. She was uncomfortable being at home so she asked Chasan if she could stay with him for a couple weeks until COVID passed.....Need I say more? I think we all know what happened! Elissa started with a couple bags which turned into another one here, and another one there, and then soon enough she had a key to the apartment. Elissa never went back to her own home… After (successfully) living through a pandemic together (in very tight quarters), Chasan and Elissa moved into a bigger apartment together in October of 2020. Throughout their time dating they went on many trips including Northern Arizona, Vegas, San Diego, Colorado, Mexico, and one of their favorites...Chicago! They also continued to attend many different sporting events including the DBacks, Suns, Cubs, and ASU football games. Life became busy, but they were having so much fun together. Chasan proposed to Elissa on November 6th at home in their apartment. It was perfect in every way! To be continued...
