Things To Do

Elise holds Chicago close to her heart; and while Nathan is a Louisville boy to his core, here are the places they can agree are pretty fantastic.

The Art Institute of Chicago

111 South Michigan Avenue, Chicago, IL 60603
, (312) 443-3600

This is where we discovered we have exactly opposing views of art. And we still decided to get married! A favorite place and space of Elise's, she appreciates how Nathan pointed out the hilarity that is the "Venus de Milo with Drawers" in the Modern Wing. If you're a really lucky guest, Elise will give you a tour of the goofiest pieces and stories the AIC has to offer. Ask her about the Sassiest Teapot in the world!

Museum of Science and Industry, Chicago

5700 South Lake Shore Drive, Chicago, IL 60637
, (773) 684-1414

This is where we met! Elise loves pretending she lives in old time Chicago at Yesterday's Main Street, and Nathan gets creeped out by the old dentist office. He also holds Science Storms close to him, but for Elise it is a little loud. Stop by the Information Desk where we first realized "Oh, this person is actually enjoyable." And of course, check out the U-505, but I hear the tour is really overpriced since their best tour guide left in 2015.

The Second City

1616 North Wells Street, Chicago, IL 60614
, (312) 337-3992

This is what Nathan came to Chicago for in the first place! Check out where he honed his comedic chops, or where to seek damages for the jokes he makes. Don't ask him about his "Raccoon Blackout".

Chinatown

Cermack and Wentworth Ave, Chicago, IL 60616

Nathan LOVES Chinatown! "It's shopping, it's eating, it's everything." It really is! Go to Triple Crown for dim sum or Happy Lamb if you've never had Hot Pot (it's like fondu but with soup!). Wherever you end up going, get an Egg tart from Saint Anna Bakery & Cafe. Ask Elise about her tiny Bible she got there when she was 12. Don't ask Nathan why he is still marrying her.

Millennium Park

201 East Randolph Street, Chicago, IL 60602
, (312) 742-1168

Very touristy, but for good reason! See amazing art pieces, walk around the park, look at the lake. Be sure to check out the free programs they run in the summer (when there isn't a pandemic)! Also the Bean is there.

Some of Our Favorite Neighborhoods

It's a city of neighborhoods for a reason! Some of our favorite haunts include: Gold Coast (Original Pancake House for breakfast!), Hyde Park (Medici's for lunch!), Lincoln Park (so many white people!), and Logan Square (Spilt Milk for cocktails!). Don't ask Elise for her tour of each neighborhood: she won't make it to the wedding, and you won't make it home before Wednesday. Don't ask Nathan where anything is, he won't know.
