Our Love Story

How faith and football brought us together...online

God knew what he was doing... when he prompted Elise to go outside of the Phoenix circle and for Michael to log back into the Catholic Match app... On January 23, 2023 it was a match on Catholic Match which was two days before Michael's subscription ended. He sent the first message and said something along the lines of "I don't know if this will work since you're a Chiefs fan" and Elise couldn't back down, and now it will forever be a point of contingency for when football season rolls around for who is the better team (Denver Broncos or Kansas City Chiefs). We met for coffee at a halfway point between Gilbert and Tucson and on February 4th, 2023 Elise was actually on time and Michael walked into Deadlift Coffee with flowers in hand. The coffee date extended into walking around Casa Grande and finding a spot for lunch, hours went by and we ended the most wonderful date with a kiss. A year spent together filled with going to Sunday Mass and AJs for breakfast after, spending lots of time with Oreo, driving back and forth for the weekends, traveling to Disney World, attending weddings of family and friends, spending time at the driving range, exploring craft breweries, and loving every moment that we spend together. A year later on the dot we went back to the place where it all started, Deadlift coffee. Little did Elise know, Michael had the whole day figured out with one surprise after another. We traveled back from Casa Grande, went to the outlet mall (even stopped into look at rings just for fun), Michael took Elise to her pre-scheduled hair appointment, and then afterwards to the Gilbert Riparian Preserve where Elise's sister Leah was waiting for us. Michael said that it was a surprise one year anniversary photoshoot and Elise got teary-eyed with that surprise. A few locations and photos later we walked to this pond area where a framed collage (that Michael's mom helped craft) of photos throughout the years and flowers were waiting for us. Michael got down on one knee and popped the question with a beautiful rose ring holder. After Elise took (what felt like) forever to process the question and say yes, Michael pulled out one flower that was different than the arrangement that Kailey made. It was a silk red rose as our thing that we say to each other is from Beauty and the Beast which is "I will love you until the last petal falls" and with the silk rose the petals will never fall. We took a few more photos and then headed to dinner. Michael had another surprise waiting which was both of our families to celebrate us! God allowed us to find each other and build this beautiful start to forever! We are so excited to celebrate our wedding day with you!
