What time should I arrive at the ceremony?
Answer
It is recommended that you arrive at least 15-20 minutes before the ceremony starts. The ceremony will begin promptly at 4:30 PM.

What is the dress code?
Answer
Yacht Formal is the dress code. Cocktail dresses or gowns with flowy, breathable fabric for women and blazers with dress pants or suits for men.

Will the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception take place indoors or outdoors?
Answer
The ceremony will be indoors at the Chapel by the Sea. The cocktail hour and reception will be outdoors under a tent.

What will the weather be like?
Answer
While we can not predict the exact forecast for our special day, typically in mid-April, Southwest Florida offers warm sunny days with average temperatures in the mid-80's during the day and mid-60's at night.

How do I get to the wedding venue from the church? Will transportation be provided?
Answer
South Seas Resorts' address is 5400 Plantation Road, Captiva, FL 33924. Their phone number is 866-565-5089. The resort has golf cart rental options for guests staying on the property. A shuttle is available to and from the resort to the church.

Is there parking available at the church?
Answer
Parking spaces are limited; we encourage you to take the shuttle or rent a golf cart if you are staying on the South Seas property.

Can I bring my kids?
Answer
We respectfully request that no children attend our wedding and reception. While we love your little ones, our wedding will be an adults-only celebration.

What type of food and drink will be served during the cocktail hour and reception?
Answer
We will be serving light passed hors d'oeuvres with an open bar during cocktail hour, followed by a plated dinner.

Yes, there will be an allotted time for an open bar during the reception.

Have you booked hotel room blocks for guests?
Answer
Hotel stay information is listed in the Travel section of the wedding website. We have a room block reserved at South Seas Resort for the Horton/McFerran guests that is available through March 18, 2026. You can book online or call the resort to make travel arrangements, 1-866-565-5089. We have also listed alternate options for hotel stays on Captiva and Sanibel Island in the travel tab of the website.

Can I take pictures during the ceremony to post on social media?
Answer
We request that our guests turn off and put away their phones/cameras/devices during the ceremony to allow everyone to be present during our big day.
