Dear Friends and Family, We have made the decision to cancel our postponed wedding celebration for the happiest of reasons: we will be welcoming our daughter to the world this summer! While she should arrive at least a week or two before our make-up date, we have a feeling we'll still have our hands full on August 14th.  We would have loved to celebrate with all of you and we can't wait for all of you to meet the newest member of our family. Once it is safe and practical to do so, we will come up with an excuse to put our band and catering deposits to use with all of you. Perhaps we'll throw an over-the-top first birthday party or an anniversary celebration. Or perhaps we'll raise our daughter on a diet of grilled chicken, mini caprese skewers, and wedding cake. Thank you again for your calls, cards, and gifts. We are truly grateful to be welcoming our daughter into such a wonderful family and community of friends. We met in our first year as students at The University of Chicago Booth School of Business. We would only take one class together during those two years (microeconomics), but they say opposites attract. While Jasper studied mergers and acquisitions, Elise studied negotiations and organizational behavior. Let’s just say that when we find a business we want to buy, we will have all the tools to run it. (Our secret dream is that it is a Pokemon-themed cafe.) Throughout our time at Booth, we learned more about each other and fell ever deeper in love. We were able to work together on the Graduate Business Council where Elise was President and Jasper was a Cohort Representative. We also made the most of our second year in business school: we traveled to Detroit to eat pizza, Florida to meet the manatees, California to hike with Jasper’s parent’s dog Leo, and Portugal also to eat pizza. After graduating in June, we moved into an apartment in New York City together. In New York, Jasper works in the Media and Communications Group at Citigroup as an Investment Banker. Elise is a Global Manager at Anheuser-Busch InBev, where she is part of a new venture turning brewers’ spent grain into human food-grade ingredients.
