We first met in our freshman year of high school, sharing the same friend group but never really getting the chance to talk. That all changed one night at a varsity football game when Lucas tried to reach out—though I may or may not have led him on. A couple of years later, during our junior year, our paths crossed again. With a little curiosity (and some help from mutual friends), I started asking some friends about Lucas. Between passing each other near chemistry class and chatting in the hallway before class, I finally made my move—asking for his AirPods and sparking a conversation. What started as small moments in the hallway quickly turned into talking after school, then spending more and more time together. About a month later, on April 1st, Lucas asked me to be his girlfriend—and the rest is history. Through college and into graduate school, our relationship continued to grow stronger with each new chapter. From supporting each other through school to building a life together, we have remained each other’s constant. When Lucas proposed, it was an easy “yes,” and we are so excited to begin this next chapter together. We can’t wait to celebrate with all of their favorite people.
