Weary of the NY dating scene and in search of a true connection, Elisabeth and Kyle took to Bumble and matched! (Bumble = a dating app where after matching, the woman has 24 hours to initiate the conversation or else the match is forever lost). Returning from a long day at work, Elisabeth received a Bumble notification, "Hurry up Elisabeth! Your match with Kyle expires in one hour!" After much back-and-forth, she finally brilliantly typed up "What's up, Kyle?" and with an audible "WHATEVER" hit "send". They texted for a few days, then Kyle suggested meeting up at The Penrose on the Upper East Side which, unbeknownst to him, was her favorite spot to go. They met on a Friday night. Pleasantly surprised neither of them had been catfished or matched with a typical NY crazy person (the latter may be debatable), they instantly eased into conversation and quickly realized this match was the real deal. Over the past 2 1/2 years, their relationship has grown and blossomed into the desire to make a life-long commitment to each other. And so theirs is a modern love story, no friends in common, no "we met at work". If not for the app Bumble - and perhaps divine intervention - they never would have met.
It was May 22nd, 2021 when Kyle brought Elisabeth to Liberty House for lunch. This was a thing they loved to do when the weather was nice - a walk in the park followed by lunch at Liberty House, a restaurant special to them both for many reasons. Ironically, there was a very loud bride-to-be at a table next to them so they quickly finished up lunch, grabbed their drinks, and walked down to the restaurant garden. Then at a private table, away from the crowd and noise, Kyle got down on one knee, pulled out a beautiful diamond ring, and asked Elisabeth to be his wife. It was an easy YES! Overjoyed, they called their families, grabbed a bottle of Champagne, and boarded a private sailboat Kyle had organized; and so they set sail on their life together.
