My Helper - My Anchor

And the Lord God said, "It is not good that man should be alone; I will make him a helper comparable to him." Genesis 2: 18 Reflecting on this word of God, we wondered who our helper would be. The one who would hold each other down during life's storms. We wonder who it is, that one person God would have for us to spend the rest of our lives with. And so we prayed. And beyond our wildest dreams God heard our prayers. Our story began April of 2016 at Brockton Temple SDA Church. We would catch a glance of each other in the mornings during bible study but we could never get the courage to introduce ourselves; two shy people. After a few weeks of wondering, thinking, and admiring from afar, God gave us a nudge. Some friends tried to get us to say hi to each other but it wasn't the meeting we thought it would be. It was sort of awkward. Maybe this wasn't the helper God intended for me, BUT God wasn't done with this future union yet! On a sunny day, in April, her Uncle Ray had us formally meet. I was finishing my shift for security for the church when I saw her and finally mustard up enough courage to speak to her again and the rest was history! As we began dating, I began to see an affectionate and fiercely protective woman. A woman, who by God's design would challenge me in many way's to be a better me. In a way, I knew from the very beginning during our conversations, she was/is very special. Shortly after we began dating, my father had passed away, & sure enough she was there. She was also my champion during a time I was between jobs. There she was, encouraging me. Sure enough I found my helper, my anchor. As our two year anniversary was coming up, I knew I wanted to make her my wife. After picking up hints from her, her aunt helped me set up the engagement she always dreamed of. A surprise engagement with her close friends & family. On July 4, 2018, I asked her to allow me to forever be her helper, her anchor.

God's Plan

When it comes to God’s plan for our lives He truly does his own thing in his own time. And it’s always at just the right time. My story of how I met the love of my life of course starts at His house; Church. I had no idea who he was but always noticed him looking at me during Sabbath school. I’ve always been a shy person and never paid too much attention to him until one day my Uncle Ray introduced us. At the time I was very nervous, Hervé on the other hand seemed very excited. We had spoken for about 5 minutes until we decided to exchange numbers. Eventually we ended up going on our first date. All I can say is he was such a gentleman. I liked who he was, so much so that I wanted to be with him more and more. That being said we became official on the 4th of July. He has been everything that I could want. He has always supported me emotionally, spiritually, and financially. He always gave his time to me and my Mother and never stopped seeking the Lord about our relationship. I missed him all the time. And before long this man would make me the happiest woman in the world. Shortly after returning from my cousins wedding, Hervé invited me for dinner as it was our 2 year anniversary. The restaurant was lovely and it was just Hervé and I. Or so I thought. The night was still young when the waitress told us we had the wrong table. We moved to the first floor of the restaurant. When I reached the bottom floor of the restaurant there was my family ready to congratulate me! When I looked back at he was on his knee asking me to be his wife. This night was absolutely beautiful and I still remember the lovely pictures of us arranged all around the room. Looking back I still cry about how happy and excited I was to tell this man yes!
