We can't recall how we met exactly. We were both 18 and freshmen at the University of St. Thomas. Fast forward after graduation, and we're in our mid-20s and become good friends. A few years later Joe moves to New York for grad school, and I end up in Galveston for OT school. We're now in our 30s, and he returns home for good while I'm studying for my boards. He plans a river trip on the Frio River, and I attend. Soon after the river trip, we date, fall in love, get engaged, and find a stray dog that we name Annabelle. It took a long and agonizing 16 years to bring us here to the present day with our sweet Annabelle- our one true love.
