The road to Hana is a MUST see if you are in Maui! Plan for Hana near the beginning of your trip so you can wake up bright and early (6 am to beat crowds). There is so much to see and no phone service our tip is to download the Road to Hana app on your phone. Also bring lunch, snacks, and sunscreen there is not a lot of options once you are out there and prices are expensive!
What we recommend is making a day trip to the blowhole. Start off ordering breakfast-to-go at the Gazebo (we love the fried rice and banana pancakes). Then head to Ghana access trail it is a very pretty stop for pictures, there is also great snorkeling here so plan if you want to stop and snorkel while you're here. (not a sandy beach) Then start heading to the blowhole! After you see the blowhole continue on this road and you will hit an AMAZING hike called. It is a pretty steep hike and can get muddy if it rains but it is really pretty if you want to see some great views. Then continue to pia valley and walk around. Continue about 15 mins and end at Cafe O' Lei for dinner at the Millhouse. (make sure you bring a shirt jake got kicked out last time)
This hike is AMAZING! If you don't like uphill hikes this is NOT the hike for you. This hike is pretty difficult it took us round trip 2-3 hours. Bring good shoes and ones you don't mind getting dirty it is pretty muddy but the views are awesome. There is a few different parts of this hike you can hike to a spot that has decking which is about halfway from the very top after that point the hike gets more difficult because it is steep and slippery. If you go far enough you will see a staircase in the clouds.
