You get a lot out of your first real job. You gain work ethic, the ability to collaborate with a team, and sometimes, you find the person you'll spend the rest of your life with. I first met Reina in the kitchen of the Mayfield McDonalds' in 2015, and I didn't realize at the time that I had just met the love of my life. We started talking as friends, and realized that we both had very similar upbringings, struggles, and dreams for the future; we also realized that we were developing feelings for each other. Unfortunately, those feelings would not be explored for 2 more years. I went off to college at WKU to pursue a degree in Broadcasting, while Reina had 2 more years to finish at Mayfield High School. Before I left, I made an offhanded comment saying, "Wouldn't it be funny if you ended up following me up there? I think you'd do really well in broadcasting." Little did I know, that's exactly what she would do. While I was working part-time at the Bowling Green PBS Station, Reina was developing the skills and love for broadcasting in high school. A year and a half later when she told me she was going to WKU to pursue broadcasting, I encouraged her to volunteer for PBS as soon as she could. Once she moved to Bowling Green, I started to help her develop her professional skills. She was easily one of the quickest learners I had ever helped train. We kept talking past training, and developed a friendship once again until eventually, I asked her out on a date to see Stephen King's It. The rest is history. - Elijah
