Elijah and Haley met in May of 2023 at church in their young adults group. The first time Haley saw Elijah, she was immediately drawn to him. Although they were not familiar with each other at the time, there was something that intrigued them into wanting to know more. As it turned out, they would soon get the opportunity through seeing each other at church services, as well as at the Mexican restaurant Haley’s staff went to every week—where Elijah happened to work. It was there at Haley’s weekly staff lunch that Elijah’s interest for her began to quickly unfold. From ordering Haley’s food for her when she was “bored” of the menu and wanted a surprise, or making sure her glass of water was full every five minutes, Elijah made sure of using this as an opportunity to flirt with Haley. It was not very long until Elijah and Haley were talking everyday, then eventually started to hang out together. As they got to know each other, one of their first dates included a hike in Houston. While on the hiking trail Haley joked, “I wouldn’t have come here this early on with just anybody… you could literally snatch me.” Fast forward to their proposal almost a year and a half later—Elijah brought her back to that same hiking trail and started to say, “So remember what you said the first time we were here…” Before he could finish, Haley completed the sentence: “You’re snatching me.” He laughed then carried on the moment by asking Haley to be his wife. And of course, she said yes! What started off as curiosity turned into a relationship built on faith, love, and plenty of sweet moments. Haley loves how kind Elijah is and how he has a way of soaking up information with such ease. Elijah loves how affectionate Haley is and especially enjoys her acts of service when she does his hair routine and facials. But what truly deepened their love was seeing how they have showed up for each other in times of struggle. As they have endured through multiple challenges they continually lead each other back to their faith and seek out the Lord through it all. That’s why Haley knew—this was the man she wanted to marry. Together they serve on the lead team of their young adults group, Regen, where they are mentored by Pastor Chance, who will officiate their wedding. Through serving the Lord at their home church, traveling from Texas to California on a train, driving to the Hill Country for a getaway day trip or simply going to the movies, they love to fill their time with tons of spontaneous fun and adventure. Now, they await the greatest adventure of their lives—marriage!
