We met through a mutual friend at a wedding back in September of 2016. Each of us were dating other people when we first met, though those relationships did not last much longer. We found comfort in each other as friends by hanging out and talking often. The first time we spent time alone together was when we attended a concert on December 3rd. Our first date was going to see the James Island County Festival of Lights a few weeks later. We began officially dating (with the intent to marry) on January 4, 2017. Fast forward to the proposal, December 8, 2019: We were back where we had our first official date, the Festival of Lights, this time surrounded by most of our close friends. After about an hour and a half of laughing, eating food, and taking a lot of pictures, (also after much courage was built up), the proposal finally happened on one of the walking paths, under icicle lights, just before the park closed for the night. Everything seemed quiet in that moment and after some tears (from both parties) and tight hugging, we were engaged to be married.
