We went to the same high school together, Carl Schurz High School, and our school hosted a military ball here at the Regency Inn Banquets for the JRTOC program. Julian was part of the program and I was invited by a friend. I walked in and my friends insisted we sit at this specific table because most of their friends were there. I sat and scooted in my chair the minute I looked up Julian's eyes met mine. Since then Julian had a crush and more than a year later, November 05, 2016, we became boyfriend and girlfriend.
One of our friends invited us to a last minute New Year's party. I already made plans to celebrate with my family, so I declined the invitation. However, Julian seemed upset so I made a compromise. I told Julian "Let's hang out with my family first then late a night attend our friends party." He agreed. On New Year's Eve our friends called to ask for help with decorating; Julian left for 3 hours to help. Later that day we attended my families party then we left to our friends party. The party was small it consisted of Julian's and my friends and his parents. When midnight hit Julian and I shared a kiss; a few minutes later he grabbed my hand and told me to follow him. With every stepped I took I was more and more confused. We eventually reached outside in the hotel lobby and he opened the room next door. The room was filled with red, white, and pink roses and tea lit candles. The candles and roses led a trail to the bed where above the bed read "Will You Marry Me" in rose gold balloon letters. As I turned around Julian was on one knee with tears in his eyes.
