10:00 am - 12:00 pm
This is a special tradition for the groom to recite the blessing over the Torah at the Shabbat service before the wedding. After the Torah reading and the groom's concluding blessing, congregants usually say Mazal Tov and throw candy at him. The harder the candy, the better. :) The aufruf will be followed by light snacks and drinks.
5:00 pm - 8:30 pm
This is an Orthodox Jewish tradition for friends, relatives, and people in the community to celebrate a bride. It's a casual social gathering with light snacks and some speeches. "The idea of the Shabbat kallah isn't just an old-fashioned gesture to increase a bride's happiness; it's a brilliant psychological ploy. Since emotions and anxiety can run so high the day or two before a wedding, the Shabbat kallah distracts the bride from last-minute jitters." (Aish.com)
