Sylvia’s Perspective: Funny story. I didn’t want to go to BYU Idaho because it has a reputation of immediate marriages. “Ring before spring” or BYU-I-do. I can be a stubborn person and I did not want to be one of the people contributing to that stereotype. I thought I didn’t want to get married so fast. I actually voiced these worries to my grandmother who reassured me that if I found the right person, then it wouldn’t matter. Well, I guess you could say I found the “Wright” person! We met on the LDS dating app “Mutual”. I was there to get some “experience” in dating and talking to new people while I worked on my mission papers. A couple of weeks later, I met this guy named Eli. I wasn’t really interested in a relationship since I was going on a mission, but through listening to some blatant messages from God about dating Eli, I have arrived here, and I couldn’t be happier about it! Eli’s Perspective: I had gotten back from my mission in March of 2023, and attended one semester at BYU-I already. I was about to start Winter semester of this year, when I got the strongest impression I’ve ever had that I needed to start dating. For the first week, I wasn’t sure how to go about doing that. I had two of my best friends over, and as they were leaving, one suggested Mutual. I hated the idea of a dating app, and he knew my opinions of them, so he just said to use it to meet people. Literally the first person I matched with and talked to was the one. God’s hand has been in our relationship since step one.
