Rainbow Row refers to the row of pastel-colored historic homes located on East Bay Street, just along the Battery. As one of Charleston’s most iconic sites, you can visit this area on any given day and see couples getting their photos taken for engagements or weddings, along with a drove of tourists trying to get a good photograph of the stunning houses.
Battery Park is a historic landmark in Charleston situated at the very end of Rainbow Row. Under a canopy of trees lives an important part of South Carolina's defense strategy during the Civil War. Built in 1670 the seawall and promenade along the lower end of the peninsula served as protection from the British.
The iconic Charleston City Market is situated in the very heart of the city. Shop among the many vendors who set-up their wares daily. Many have an interesting story to tell if you take the time to ask. Here's where you can take home a little piece of Charleston, whether it's a rice bead necklace, bag of stone ground grits or Christmas ornament painted with rainbow row, it's a charming place to find a variety of treasures.
The Angel Oak receives approximately 400,000 visitors each year. The tree is 65 feet high with a circumference of 25.5 feet, shading an area of 17,000 square feet. The public is allowed access six days a week. The park is closed Wednesdays and holidays. Admission to the general public is free but donations are gladly accepted to help in the preservation of the tree for future generations to enjoy.
Super cute wine bar. Fun to split a bottle (or 2) with a group. Near Jack's Tavern, which is also a cute dinner spot with the best burgers in town. Graft isn't open super late so make sure you check hours before heading over. Good vibes, fun music, great wine selection and knowledgable, hip sommeliers working to guide you through your choices.
Delightful little cafe that's open late for cocktails and tasty food. Parisian/Italian vibes. Cute street side tables for al fresco dining. Grab a coffee to go or park yourself for a bit while enjoying homemade baked goods, delicious salads and sandwiches.
A Charleston staple. Consistently great food and a menu that has something for everyone. If you go make sure you order at least one order of the "Down South Egg Rolls". SO delish. As with all Charleston restaurants make reservations well in advance!
Poogan was a dog that lived in this charming old house, now a fun restaurant in this gorgeous vintage home. Creaky stairs and old hardwood floors with sun-filled rooms make the best spot to eat traditional southern cuisine with a flair. Lunch, dinner or brunch is all equally delish. Reservations recommended!
They rep themselves as a neighborhood gathering place featuring ingredients from their favorite farmers, foragers and artisans. We just call it DELICIOUS. Dining at the Grocery is an experience and one to be savored and enjoyed. Want a place at their table? Make a reservation!
Waterfront and panoramic views make for a great spot for lunch or dinner. Super casual. If you go order a Bloody Mary. They make their own pepper-infused vodka in house and get an order of the Stuffed Hush Puppies to share. The Fried Oyster Salad isn't too shabby either! Reservations recommended.
