Question

What're y'all doing with your last names?

Answer

Both Eli and Chaz will be keeping the names they were born with. As a family, we ask to be called "the Megibben-Tyras". Nota bene: while we are on the topic, our cat's full government name is Anaconda "Connie" Megibben-Tyra.

Question

How did you find your venue?

Answer

Through Eli's genetics! Mt. Lebanon was built by Eli's some-odds great-grandfather James Garrard in built the home in 1785 (and ten years later, he was elected second Governor of KY). The good news for the history buffs is there there will be plenty of Megibben's there day-of ready to answer questions about the house, but in the meantime, here is Gov. Garrard's wikipedia page for anyone who cares: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_Garrard

Question

Note about getting to the venue

Answer

You will have to navigate some windy backroads to get to the venue. If you have the opportunity, we highly recommend trying to organize a carpool from the hotel (or from wherever you're staying) to the venue.

Question

Do you have Spring allergies? Read this!

Answer

There's a ton of trees and foliage on the property and we expect that everything will be in full-bloom by the time the wedding rolls around. May 23 2026 is not the day to forget your allergy pill. And if you've got an allergy pill that doesn't work very well, switch to Xyzal (it's kinda pricey but makes all the difference).

Question

What shoes should I wear?

Answer

The wedding ceremony will be outside in the grass and the reception will be outside under tents and in a barn. There will be some portable flooring under the tents, but the odds of you needing to step through some grass and dirt is high. I recommend avoiding heels with a point that could get stuck in the ground, but at the end of the day you are the boss of your own ankles and feet phalanges.

Question

Food and drink?

Answer

For dinner, you'll be served from a buffet supplied by a local tex-mex restaurant (https://papislex.com/). Part of why we picked a buffet was to ensure that everyone could make themselves a plate (or two!) that fit their dietary needs. We made sure to order food that could be accommodating to Halal and vegan/vegetarian diets as well various allergies (tree nut, peanut, dairy, and gluten). Cash bars will open right after the ceremony. Beer, wine, and "well liquor" with basic mixers will be served.

Question

What if it's hard for me to get around outside

Answer

Please let the couple know if you have any mobility concerns that you think may be exasperated by the outdoors. We've already made plans to accommodate certain mobility aids, and we want to make sure you're taken care of too!

Question

Bathrooms?

Answer

Portable bathrooms will be available for you to use to your hearts content. They're a lot nicer than what you'd expect to find at a tailgate or construction site, so that's exciting.
