Austin and Eliana met their freshman year at Northeastern University through the track and field team. What started out as a connection between mutual friends, turned into a budding romance that blossomed into full blown love. Since their very first date watching Good Will Hunting, Austin and Eliana have been inseparable (Except for a week in January 2017 when Eliana broke up with Austin). Over the last six and a half years they have created memories that will last a lifetime. Whether it has been an extravagant date to the Top of the Hub in Boston or a routine trek to Coldstone for after dinner ice cream, they have always been happier with each other. In 2020 their relationship faced the ultimate test, when Austin moved away to Michigan (go blue!) and Eliana stayed in Boston. The time apart strengthened their bond, as every moment together felt like a gift. When Eliana moved to Michigan, Austin knew that this was the right time to propose. When did you know they were the one? Austin: I knew she was the right person for me during the first summer that we were dating and we went home for break. I didn’t really think too much about it beforehand, but once we were apart I just felt like I was missing part of myself. I knew then that I didn’t ever want to be apart from Eliana again. Eliana: I’m still deciding. You’ll have to wait for what I say at the altar. How did he propose? Austin: The day Eliana was moving to Ann Arbor, I had planned to propose to her. She had no idea because I kept lying about it, telling her I wasn’t ready and had no money. Secretly, I had the ring under my bed for a few months. When the day came, I had made a poster with pictures of us and a big heart that said “ will you marry me?”. I had Geoff and Courtney set it up, with some other cute picnic attire, in Gallup park, just behind a bush. On the drive over to the park, I almost dropped the ring when transferring it into my jacket pocket, causing Eliana to look over awkwardly at me. I thought for sure she would know what was going on. Eliana: We went for a walk in Gallup park after a track meet. It was the first time Austin was decisive about where we were going to take a walk. We were walking along the path when Austin told me to "look over there". I saw a poster in the distance that I thought couldn't be for me. As we approached the poster, I realized the poster looked a lot like one I had made for Austin a few years back. I soon realized that poster said "Will You Marry Me?" with a bunch of pictures of me and Austin. I turned around and Austin was on one knee holding the ring.
