It was late Spring of 2022. Like most of the single population, Elhanan and Teresa found themselves looking for love on dating apps; more specifically, ‘Hinge’. On this particular day, Teresa saw that she had a new notification. Elhanan had liked one of her pictures. Their first conversation started with a simple ‘good morning’, but quickly advanced as they both found each other discussing thoughtful ideas, sharing commonalities, and both agreeing that this initial conversation was probably the best they’d ever had on a dating app. It was clear that something special had begun. From that day forward, they kept in regular contact, and less than 2 weeks later they had their first ‘in person date’ at Starbucks. Elhanan had admitted to never having tried Starbucks before, and Teresa (a self professed coffee connoisseur) knew this had to be rectified immediately. After shy introductions and smiles, they sat down at a table and began talking. Shortly after sitting down, a woman at the table next to them intruded. She was *eccentric* to say the least, and her conversation was completely erratic. Something to the effect of governmental conspiracies, water pollution, and the story of Noah’s Ark….but she suddenly seemed to have a brief moment of clarity. She turned to Elhanan while gesturing to Teresa and said, ‘She’s beautiful, and she’s a good one, don’t mess this up’. Both amused and a little creeped out, Teresa and Elhanan tried to quickly find their way out of this encounter and out of this coffeehouse. What started as coffee quickly became lunch, then a smoothie, and the afternoon was soon giving way to evening. They’d spent almost 5 hours together and it felt like minutes. Elhanan finally admitted he had to get on the road, as he was actually supposed to meet up with his family in ATL hours ago. They stood by Teresa’s car, bashfully gearing up for their goodbye’s. They hugged and went their separate ways. Teresa drove home knowing it was one of the best dates she’d ever had; while Elhanan called his best friend, confessing he’d believed he found ‘The One’. As months went on, their relationship continued to grow and blossom; as they built a foundation of friendship, open communication, and laughter, it was apparent to both of them that this was something they wanted to last a lifetime. A year to the day that they both ‘swiped right’, Elhanan asked Teresa to be his bride- a decision she didn’t even have to think twice about. They look forward to sharing the journey of life, and continuing to build their lives together. Guess the crazy lady at Starbucks was on to something after all…
