The proposal.
When Gavan and I first met, I was nervous. He came across as a confident know-it-all at work. I did my best to keep a distance. Despite best efforts, sparks began when we were assigned together nightly at a VIP lounge. He is just a funny charming guy that knows how to make people laugh. I adore his comedy style but he lured me in with stimulating conversations about philosophical questions I had not yet asked myself. It was just what I needed for that time in my life. We became friends ruling the jukbox at different bars on many occasions with our friends competitively watching for which songs would get the crowd going. Whiskey, music, and great conversations were still not enough. My son was my focus and I was interested in finding a father figure. We remained friends. In the summer of 2011, my babysitter canceled on me 10 minutes before I was supposed to leave for work. Gavan was my last resort and thankfully he was happy to help. My son met his cat and had a great time. I knew at that moment that we could be a great family.
