Travel Note
GETTING TO GREECE: Please book travel to arrive into Athens International Airport Eleftherios Venizelos (ATH) https://aia.gr/traveler/ We suggest staying a night or two in Athens before coming to Volos (visit here for more information on Athens _____ ) While Lyft or Uber aren't available in Athens, there is an alternative called Beat-Ride App that is great. Unfortunately they only operate in Athens.
Travel Note
Volos, Greece, Thanasi's hometown, is a 3.5 hour car ride from the Athens. We suggest when renting the smallest car available that fits your needs, as roads in Greece have a tendency to be narrow. The majority of cars are manual transmission, so sharpen up those stick skills! Not to worry though, you can rent an automatic for a fee. If driving be aware there are tolls ( approx. €20) on the national highways. PLEASE BRING CASH! THEY DO NOT TAKE CREDIT CARDS. They take all denominations of Euros. If you intend on renting a car and want to carpool, let us know so we can try and find another wedding guest to share your ride. The Greek bus system, KTEL, is also a great option. It takes approximately 4.5 hours from Athens to Volos. If you decide to take the public bus, please let Eleni or Thanasis know so we can help you schedule and tell you where to go! While in Volos, or any other city in Greece taxis are the best way to zip around. Hotel desks will be able to call a taxi.
House Or Rental
AirBnB is a great option when traveling to Greece. When searching for locations search " Portaria, Magnesia Prefecture" for the village where the reception will be held. Or if you wish to stay in the city, "Volos, Greece." For everyone's safety and experience we would prefer our guests staying in the village the night of the wedding. The drive from the village to the city is about 30 minutes of mountain roads.
Hotel
We suggest guests stay Saturday August 31, 2019 and Sunday September 1, 2019 at Xenia Palace Portaria. There will be transportation for the rehearsal dinner and ceremony and reception leaving from this hotel both nights. Please email our wedding planner, Marianna, at PelionEventsPlanners@gmail.com to book your hotel rooms for Saturday August 31, 2019 and Sunday September 1, 2019. If you have ANY questions please contact either Eleni or Thanasis.

FERRIES: Ferries are the way to go when traveling to the islands. There are also ferries that allow you to take your car. Book online at the website provided above . When reserving your seats take note that not all ferries allow cars. The Flying Cat/ Flying Dolphin ferries are high speed hydrofoil, so they get you to your destination faster, but do not allow cars.
