The ceremony

The Convento dei Frati Minimi in Cirella, a hamlet of Diamante (CS), was built in 1545 along with the Church of Santa Maria delle Grazie. It is an important religious complex located on a panoramic hill overlooking the ruins of ancient Cirella. According to tradition, San Francesco of Assisi appeared in a vision to San Francesco of Paola, advising him to build a larger oratory and personally indicating its layout, which was then carried out by the Minimi monks. The site is renowned for its atmosphere of peace and spirituality.
The annexed church, once rich in frescoes, suffered severe damage due to the prolonged absence of a roof, but one of its main artworks – a Madonna of the Angels – was saved and transferred to the town's parish church, where it has been restored.
Today, the convent hosts a modern multimedia museum that offers visitors an immersive 3D experience, helping to enhance one of the most significant historical and cultural sites in the area.
