We love hiking in Shenandoah National Park. Some of our favorite hikes include Black Rock Summit, Humpback Rocks, and Fraizer Discovery Trail. If you have time, we suggest taking a drive along the Skyline Drive. The cost to enter Shenandoah National Park is $30/car.
Charlottesville is a beautiful city in Virgina. The Historic Downtown Mall has plenty of shopping and restaurants.
The greater Charlottesville area is home to hundreds of great wineries and breweries. For wineries, great nearby options include Lovingston Winery, Mountain & Vine Vineyards and Winery, Pippin Hill Farm & Vineyards, The South Paddock Winery at Whitehall Farm, Wisdom Oak Winery. For breweries, they are mostly concentrated in either downtown Charlottesville, or on the Brew Ridge Trail, about 20 minutes north in Nelson County. Great options in Charlottesville include Three Notched, Selvedge Brewing, Potters Craft Cider, Random Row, and Decipher Brewing. On the Brew Ridge Trail, all 5 options are great. They include Blue Mountain Brewery, Devils Backbone Brewing Company, South Street Brewery, Starr Hill Brewery, and Wild Wolf Brewing Company.
There are multiple great golf courses within a 30 minute drive of our venue, including - Birdwood Golf Course (inside Boars Head resort), Charlottesville VA - Meadowcreek Golf Course, Charlottesville VA - Old Trail Golf Course, Crozet VA - Stoney Creek Golf Course (inside Wintergreen Resort), Nellysford VA
The Charlottesville food scene is delicious and diverse. You can try traditional southern meals at restaurants like the Ridley, Mockingbird, and the Whiskey Jar. Elevated dining experiences are available at Duner’s, Tavola, and C&O Restaurant. For those with an international flair you can experiment with exotic flavors at Kanak, Guajiro's, and Al Carbon. For the historian, there are historic restaurants like Michie Tavern (est. 1784) and The Virginian (est. 1927).
