How we met

May 26, 2017

We actually met online on Christian Mingle. My (Ellen) dad told me the only way online dating would work for me was if I found a good Chrisitan man through a Christian dating website. His brother-in-law told him the same thing for finding a good Christian woman. We both made a pact to ourselves that we would try it out for a month, and sure enough God (or the Christian Mingle algorithm) allowed us to meet. After messaging for a while, we met in person at a Cracker Barrel and the rest is history!

The Proposal

May 31, 2019

Every year, Michael and I try to go on up to the mountains a few times to go hiking, especially around our anniversary. This year we chose to go to Helen, GA. As we were hiking in Tallulah Gorge State Park, I asked to take a break for a minute at a nearby bench. As I was catching my breath, Michael decided to wander off to go "looking for rocks". I thought nothing of it since he is always collecting rocks from the hikes we visit. Upon returning from his rock quest, I stood up and asked "are you ready to continue our hike?". He said yes and I turned around to grab my bag. When I turned back around he was kneeling down. He said "Look what I found on the ground!". I look down to see a rock that says "Will you marry me?". My first thought? Oh funny, somebody wrote will you marry me on a rock out here in the middle of this hiking trail, what are the chances? Second thought: wait did he write that? Third thought: Oh my gosh he wrote that!! Needless to say it took a moment to dawn on me what was going on. I then immediately said YES and now we're engaged!
