If you only have time to visit one other place in the Philippines, then you MUST go to El Nido. I took Steve here on his first trip (as an adult) to the Philippines and we had the best time. Go scuba diving, find hidden white sand beaches and discover the most beautiful place in the Philippines. - From Boracay: 1) Fly to Cebu or Manila, then fly to Puerto Princesa (PPS). Stay at least one night in Puerto Princesa before driving north to El Nido (about 4-5 hour drive) 2) Fly to Manila, then fly to El Nido (ENI). There is only one airline, AirSwift, that flies directly to El Nido Airport Places to Stay: 1) El Nido Resorts http://www.elnidoresorts.com/ 2) Qi Palawan http://www.qipalawan.com/ 3) The Nest El Nido
If staying in Manila for a couple days, take a day trip to see Taal Volcano and the surrounding area of Tagaytay. It's only about 1.5-2 hours from Manila and you'll get to see a volcano in the middle of a lake!
Love to surf? Then go straight to Siargao. Not only is it famous for the "Cloud 9" wave, it is full of incredible reefs, clear blue waters and white sand beaches. Best of all, it's not too overcrowded by tourists... at least not yet. From Boracay: 1) Fly to Cebu or Manila, then fly to Siargao Airport (IAO) Where to stay: 1) Nay Palad Hideaway https://www.naypalad.com/pages/siargao-island 2) Siargao Bleu Resort http://siargaobleu.com.ph/ 3) Kawayan Resort http://www.kawayansiargaoresort.com/
If you can't make it to El Nido, then the next best thing to do is to go to Coron. Also part of the island of Palawan, Coron is best known for the stunning Kayangan Lake. It's also a great destination for scuba enthusiasts. From Boracay, 1) Fly to Cebu or Manila, then fly to Francisco B Reyes Airport (USU) Where to stay: 1) Two Seasons Resort http://twoseasonsresorts.com/coron/ 2) El Rio y Mar Resort http://www.elrioymar.com/ 3) Sophia's Garden Resort
We personally love Manila but it's not everyone's cup of tea (ultimately, it's just like any large city in Asia -- congested!). If you are staying in Manila for a couple of days, we recommend staying in Makati or the Fort (aka Fort Bonifacio Global City). If you are staying in Manila for just one night while waiting for your next flight out, we suggest staying near the airport because traffic in Manila can be terrible. It's not unusual to sit in traffic for over an hour to go somewhere only 5 miles away. Hotels near the Airport 1) Manila Marriott 2) Solaire Resort and Casino 3) City of Dream - Nobu Hotel 4) Conrad Hotel Manila Hotels in Makati 1) Raffles Hotel Makati 2) The Peninsula Makati 3) Shangri-La Makati 4) Fairmont Makati Hotels in the Fort Bonifacio area 1) Shangri-La at the Fort 2) Grand Hyatt Manila 3) SEDA Bonifacio Global City
