Matron of Honor
Lisa and Elaine met as roommates their freshman year at Columbia University. They immediately hit it off over their collections of stuffed animals and mutual fascination of their third roommate's Essie nail polish collection. While they no longer live down the hall from each other, they are still close friends (even Elaine's cat allergy and Lisa's adorable kitten couldn't keep them apart). Elaine will always be grateful to Lisa for showing her how to bake, introducing her to sweet tea, and always being there to support her through thick and thin.
Best Man
Gage and Stephen met in high school but became close in their senior year at Brownell Talbot. During their shared free period, they often went on trips to buy extra-large limeades from Sonic that would likely make them sick if they drank them now. They continued hanging out during the following summer and remained in contact over the years despite Gage staying in Omaha and Stephen being in New York. Both of them always make sure to see each other whenever they are in the same place, grabbing a drink at a bar that immediately gets closed down or just driving around in Stephen’s (mom's) fancy car. To this day they every once and a while find themselves wrapped up in a Facetime call, talking about important life events or just checking in.
Bridesmaid
Sue and Elaine first met in high school at The Hill, and they became close friends after their freshman year joint Halloween costume. They both attended the engineering school at Columbia, where their friendship continued to grow through a shared love of nights out and Asian snacks. Elaine will always have Sue to thank for giving her an impeccable collection of Instagram photos, the tastiest birthday cakes, and recommendations for the trendiest restaurants in NYC. Fun fact: Sue holds the title for Elaine's longest running friendship (14 years and counting!).
Groomsman
Sam and Stephen met their first night at Columbia after Hurricane Irene forced their pre-orientation programs to be cancelled. They quickly bonded over their mutual love of NYC Hip-Hop and baseball caps. It turned out that they also had most of their early coursework together. So, hundreds of hours were spent in Sam's room working through problem sets and listening to Fabio's Calculus lectures. After graduating, Sam and Stephen have remained close due to their shared reverence for the Grateful Dead (live) catalog and exploring what New York has to offer.
Bridesmaid
Elaine first met Sydney through Stephen (who referred to her as "ugh, my sister"). Elaine quickly learned that Sydney was actually a great hiking partner, dog lover, and expert in all things Lululemon, who would make a wonderful sister. When they are together, Elaine always looks forward to dental-hygiene related gifts from Sydney (a soon-to-be dentist) and the opportunity to gang up on Stephen.
Groomsman
Brian and Stephen met while they were freshmen at Columbia. It was hard to ignore Brian's presence once he walked in the room, especially given his membership in the vaunted musical group BO$$ $TATU$. Over the years, Stephen and Brian grew closer, spending lots of time in the Haus playing pool and organizing events. After graduation, Brian moved across the country to Los Angeles, spending time with Stephen's family along the way. Brian also spends a great deal of time discussing the best eras of the Grateful Dead (he is partial to the early 80s, while Stephen prefers the late 80s).
