Our story began in Winter of 2019. Casually through a glowing screen, and then something unexpected found its way into our lives. We didn't meet at a coffee shop, or at the bar, but in a way that's so common nowadays but still feels like fate when it works, on a dating app. It's funny to think that an app brought us together. Considering we only lived 15 minutes apart the whole time (unless there is traffic on the 401, then its a long distance relationship). We had a few mutual friends but never seemed to have bumped into each other. Elaina one day decided to swipe through profiles without much thought, through an app her friend recommended her. Until she saw his. There was something about his smile maybe his dimple that caught her attention to him. To our surprise, we matched. Erwin messaged first, and their conversations were sweet and a little awkward too. It didn't seem forced though, just natural. Kind of like we knew each other for a while already. Our talks were small, but later started turning into talks that led straight into the night until one of us fell asleep. We would talk about anything and everything and eventually met up in person. We dated a few times but didn't make it official till months later. We both wanted to fully accept each others lives, and every time we would see each other it felt right and we would get closer and closer, if you know what I mean.. like in a romantic way though duh. At first Elaina actually rejected Erwin when he asked her. But, he never stopped trying until he won her heart. He just knew she was the girl for him. It took him a while but he was confident and patient. Looking back, its funny how life works. How two people can be so close yet need a little technology and a swipe right to find each other at the right time. Since then, we made so many memories together. From the late night drives, and spontaneous and last minute trips, and festivals, to deep talks about the future and arguments we would have. We would always come back to each other. No matter what happened. Meeting online wasn't just how we found each other. It showed us that love can show up in the simplest ways, and the most unexpected moments, and sometimes just fifteen minutes away. We wouldn't change a thing about how we first met, because every message, every moment, and every swipe led us to each other. And that's our favourite part of our story.
