Elaina worked at a gas station that Ian lived close to in 2019/20. Elaina had a different boyfriend at the time, but Ian knew Elaina was something he wanted. He had conversations with her as much as he could, and even stepped up the courage to write his number down on a piece of paper one night after coming in the store 3 different times. Elaina threw it in the trash. Months later Elaina was on Ian's "friends you may know" on Facebook, he friended her and text her asking if she remembered who he was. From there, it's been history. A month or two later, February 26, 2020 Ian officially asked Elaina to be his girlfriend.
