Flamingo Gardens
"Established in 1927, Flamingo Gardens is one of the oldest botanical gardens in South Florida and one of the last original jungle growths. The 60-acre not-for-profit botanical garden and wildlife sanctuary contains over 3000 tropical and sub-tropical species of plants and trees including 18 of the largest trees of their species, and is home to the largest collection of Florida native wildlife in the state. The Everglades Wildlife Sanctuary provides a home to permanently injured and rescued wildlife that can not be released back to the wild so that they may act as animal ambassadors to educate the public about the Everglades and its inhabitants. The historic Wray Home Museum provides a glimpse of life in South Florida in the 1920s and 30s."
