The summer of 2020 was a season of anxiety and restlessness for most. While the world screeched to a halt because of COVID-19, many including myself (EJ) were forced to work from home to keep away from the crowds and potential exposure. While I would much rather be in the office with my coworkers, this particular day in August would be special only because I was home. The day started like any other with typical email responses and meetings over Zoom. However, the day got immediately exciting when I gazed out my bedroom window and saw a beautiful blonde-haired, blue-eyed woman walking around with what looked to be her family. My thoughts instantly moved towards the desire to meet her. But how in the world would I go about meeting someone that I had seen through my window? And why did she look so familiar? Both questions were instantly answered by the sight of my friend Mitch coming up alongside her. I could almost instantly tell by their resemblance that they were siblings. There was hope for me! It would not be an exaggeration to say that from that point on, my thoughts were constantly fixated on meeting this woman. Soon after, my roommate Justin and I received an invitation to hang out with Mitch and others after a summer away from campus. I decided to go with the hopeful intention of meeting his beautiful and mysterious sister. Sure enough, I met my future wife that night and was instantly smitten (even though she thought my name was PG when we first met). Unfortunately, I would only see her in passing over the next several months because of the difference in our schedules and COVID-19. It would not be until mid-October that I got to converse with her again during a group study session. Seeing my opportunity, I invited her to study with me later that week. Luckily, she accepted and we ended up not getting any studying done. Instead, we talked, joked around, and got to know each other. In the end, I invited her to dinner that evening and the rest is history.
