Our love story is one no one expected. We first met when Evan applied to work for a program Jade supervised. During this time, Evan saw a great job opportunity and Jade saw a great addition to the program. In case it wasn't obvious Jade was Evan's boss-hints why he loves to tell the story. After about a year, Jade took a different position, but Evan, Jade, and the rest of the team (like our bridesmaid Amber) continued to hang out and build a friendship. As time went on, Evan and Jade found themselves finding each other more intriguing. A mutual acquaintance suggested to Jade that maybe she should date Evan. Jade found this funny as it was never a thought she'd had before, however after it was said it was all she could think about. After some more time had passed, Jade told Evan about this suggestion. With some liquid courage, our favorite Crown Peach and coke, Evan then asked Jade out. Jade thinking Evan wasn't serious, she hesitantly said yes.

Evan: When I realized Jade was my person, it was during the hardest time in my life. Jade and I became "officially" boyfriend and girlfriend on August 19th, 2022. My mom passed away 5 days later. And of course, Jade being Jade-being beyond sweet and helpful, was supportive and by my side throughout all of it. I remember being nervous because I knew Jade would be coming to my mom's visitation, where she would be meeting all of my family for the first time. At my mom's visitation, Jade walked in the doors and stood in the middle of the doorway. It was at that moment, I knew I loved her, and I knew she was my person. Jade: When I realized Evan was my person, it was more of an "oh shit" moment. Those who know me, know I take a while to warm up and let my guard down, so it shouldn't come as a surprise that my moment came months later than Evan's. I was talking with my dad one night about Evan. I remember my dad telling me to be careful. I was shocked he said that and asked why. He said it was because he had never seen me this way about anyone before, that it was obvious to him that this was different, and he didn't want me to get hurt. I laughed him off saying it wasn't that serious. My dad told me "to not be an asinine idiot" because it was obvious I was different. I was going out more (I'm not social ha), I was smiling all the time (I normally have RBF), and I introduced Evan to Freya (which I never did with anyone else.) This was my "oh shit" moment because I realized then that I was in love and I couldn't imagine my life without Evan as my partner.
