We both went to the same high school, but a few years apart, so we knew of each other but we weren't friends. When I decided on going to the University of Minnesota, a few mutual friends mentioned that Matt went there. I decided to reach out to him during "Welcome Week" since I didn't know anyone else and was hoping he could introduce me to some people and show me around. We soon realized we have a lot of the same interests and our friendship eventually turned into a relationship.

We decided to use our Thanksgiving break to visit my grandparents in Arizona. The day after Thanksgiving, we thought it would be a good idea to go for a hike in the mountains to work off the big meal we consumed the night prior. We decided on hiking the Butcher Jones Trail that would wind around Saguaro Lake for some added scenery. Once we reached the highest point of the trail, we stopped to admire the scenery. When I turned back towards the trail, Matt was down on one knee with the ring out. I never saw it coming! I said "OF COURSE!" and was excited to share the news of our engagement. We're so excited to celebrate this next chapter of our lives with you!
