Our story began on a typical cold and rainy Duluth April night that quickly became anything but. On April 12, 2022, I met Kathryn at Blackwater Lounge, where the conversation flowed as easily as our Bees Knees cocktails. A little tipsy, instantly connected, and unwilling to let the night end, I suggested we keep it going. Pizza Lucé felt like a requirement. Somewhere between pizza slices and an ill-fated stop at the Fond du Luth Casino (I was feeling lucky—the slots disagreed), something real began. Easy, fun, and full of possibility. What started as dates and shared laughs became a partnership; rooted in curiosity, trust, and a shared love of experiencing the world together. By November 2023, that adventurous spirit carried us to the Pacific Northwest. We fell in love with everything Portland has to offer. From the incredible food scene to the endless hiking opportunities just beyond the city, I loved getting to discover it all with Kath. Weekends became all about exploring: winding trails, breathtaking views, and the kind of experiences that challenge, ground, and brought us closer together. By fall 2025, we were ready to take on our biggest adventure yet. On October 11th, Kath and I set out to tackle the Enchantments through-hike, a grueling 20-mile trek with nearly 7,000 feet of elevation gain, stunning alpine lakes, granite peaks, and the occasional mountain goat. Exhausted and surrounded by indescribable beauty, I asked Kathryn to marry me. It was the perfect moment. Earned, intentional, and rooted in everything we love most: adventure, commitment, and choosing each other, even when the trail is hard. And so here we are - still exploring, laughing, and ready for the greatest adventure yet: a lifetime together.
