It was February 2018 in London. Ganga was a SOAS alumni (part of London University) and was performing with his Nepali music band, Namlo. In the mean time, Eileen was there pursuing her 2nd master's degree studying South Asian folk music. Upon learning about Namlo from her classmates and hearing that Ganga could help her with her research, Eileen sent him an email and a text. For two months, she received no response. However, when Ganga needed a cello player for a project, and learned about a cellist studying South Asian music at SOAS, he finally responded to Eileen’s message, 'I'd be happy to help you with your research, if you’ll play cello for my project.’ After their first meeting, Ganga was mesmerised. He knew he had to meet Eileen again. So he invited her for dinner to learn more about her non-profit...but mostly about her. He even cooked rice, dal and curry for her. A friendship started, and their two lives intertwined through their music for the next 2 years. During that time, Eileen moved back to India, and Ganga moved back to Nepal. Then in January 2020, Eileen confessed she reciprocated Ganga's feelings for her. While she was being repatriated to back the U.S in March 2020, she asked Ganga to bring her on a date...timing was not on her side. However, after 4 months of being on opposite sides of the world, they decided to try a virtual date in July. These virtual dates continued. And in October of 2020, the two were officially in a relationship. When Eileen was able to travel back to Nepal in the spring of 2021, they finally were able to spend time with each other in person after over a year. And that is when Ganga proposed to Eileen on her birthday in a lake called Begnas Tal just outside Pokhara. Of course, Eileen said yes. And the story continues...
