Beginning of the end

Joe and I knew of each other when we attended at Springfield College, but it wasn't until 7 years after I left SC that we made our connection. I was a very single woman approaching my 30th birthday when Joe came into my life (perfect timing!). We connected through Facebook which I can thank my sister-in-law Sheehan for telling me I had nothing to lose and to reach out to him and express interest. Also shout out to one of my students who asked me if I knew him (Joe was coaching him in lacrosse) which was what originally planted him in my mind. A year after I reached out to him (to the date) Joe was now single and wanted to connect. We arranged a date to meet at Sonny's place in Somers, Ct on August 15, 2015 and instantly hit it off. I believe that our connections to Springfield College, coaching, teaching, and basic ways of life made conversation for us seamless. I remember telling my sister after only 2 dates with Joe that I was going to marry him (knowing I sounded crazy) but there truly was just that indescribable feeling. Since that date we have developed a strong, healthy, happy relationship. I know I found myself a true "good man" and that I will laugh, smile and feel loved everyday with Joe as my husband.

Joe's Side

Summer was winding to a halt, and I had an opportunity to spend time with a few friends out of town. Despite my desire to hang on to every moment of summer with friends, I had a date that I didn't want to miss. Best decision of my life! After our date, Eileen and I spent a lot of time laughing, chatting, and of course living up to our professions by playing pickle ball, tennis, etc. I found myself smiling whenever I was in her company, and it wasn't long before I knew she was the one. Eileen was easy to talk to, made me laugh, and is well respected by everyone she crossed paths with. On a blustery day in February on Cape Cod, I made the call to Eileen's mother and father to ask their blessing in marrying her. They seemed so excited, and I paced back and forth as I waited for her to cross the finish line. She called me distressed halfway through the marathon and told me she wouldn't be able to finish. Panic set in... However, after some encouragement, Eileen dug deep and was tough enough to finish the race. As she crossed the line, I got down on one knee, and she accepted my proposal. I am so excited to continue our journey together and see what our future will bring.
