We met at a local house music show in December 2017. Jamal was taking photos when Sarah spotted him. Completely outside of her comfort zone, Sarah worked up the courage and eventually introduced herself. Sliding in with potentially the smoothest line ever known, "hey, do you work here?" After spending the night exchanging looks, Jamal asked for her number. As he sat in his car thinking of something clever for his first message to her, Jamal saw a shooting star - a good sign of what was to come. Our first date was dinner at Gratitude Kitchen. When the meal was over, we weren't ready to say goodbye so we headed to the beach and sat on a blanket in the sand, talking about life, family, our goals, and everything in between. After a nearly 8-hour long date, our fingers and toes were numb from the cold, forcing us to call it for the night. We spent the rest of the night texting back and forth and have been inseparable ever since.
We love the Central Coast of CA - it has always been a special place to us. In February 2021, we stayed at a boutique hotel in Cambria to celebrate our three-year anniversary and had the best time. We decided that this would be our "spot." Jamal remembers thinking that this would be the perfect place to pop the question. In November 2021, Jamal recognized the significance of an upcoming date - 2.22.22. The angel number 222 represents good fortune in love and serves as a symbol that you are exactly where you need to be. The presence of 2's has followed both of us throughout our adult lives - it felt perfect and aligned that this was the day Jamal would propose. So under the guise of celebrating our anniversary in the same place as the prior year, Jamal planned a trip to Cambria to celebrate our four-year anniversary. On 2.22.22, we went on a picnic with just the two of us, on a cliff overlooking the ocean beneath the cypress trees. Jamal got down on his knee and asked Sarah to marry him. It was truly the perfect proposal. And speaking of angel numbers... our venue's address is coincidentally 999 - which signifies completion and new beginnings. We're so excited to celebrate our new beginning as husband and wife with you!
