Flight

Athens Airport

Athens is the best airport to fly into. Nonstop flights are offered from both JFK and Newark. Then you can take a high speed ferry from the Port of Piraeus to Spetses!

Travel Note

Ferry Information

The easiest way to get to Spetses is from the Port of Piraeus in Athens. The ferry ride is roughly 2.5 hrs. You can book the ferry through multiple different websites: - https://www.ferries.gr/en/ - https://www.greeka.com/saronic/spetses/ferries/ - https://www.ferriesingreece.com/ - https://www.ferryhopper.com/en/ferry-routes/direct/piraeus-spetses Note that all tickets can be shown on your mobile device; no printing necessary! You will just use the confirmation code you receive to check-in 24-48 hours before your departure time to get your QR code. If you need to print, there is a several Euro fee, and you have to find your booking agents kiosk which isn't always easy.

Rental Car

Athens International Airport

If boats aren't your thing, renting a car is an option. Just be mindful of the following: - you need to have an international drivers license - most rentals are manual, automatics cost more - the 2hr 40min drive from Athens Airport is incredibly beautiful but also steep and windy - no cars allowed on Spetses, so you'd need to leave the car at the ferry ports of Poro Heli or Hermioni (10 min and 25 min ferry ride, respectively)

Travel Note

Transportation to & from Athens Airport to the Port of Piraeus

Multiple options available for transport from the airport to city center vs Piraeus port including taxi, bus, train, private transfer, rental care. We recommend using either taxi or private transfer since you'll likely have a lot of baggage. See the links below for more info: - https://athens-international-airport.com/airport-transfer-to-piraeus-port/ - https://athens-international-airport.com/airport-transfer-to-city/ Two private transfer companies with online booking: - https://booking.taxi2airport.com/ - https://www.welcomepickups.com/
