Gary and Emily are from the same area, knew each other in high school, and even shared mutual friends, but their paths seldom crossed. With Emily heading off to Syracuse University in 2011, and Gary following suit as a transfer in 2013, a friendship was formed as Emily was more than willing to share her campus expertise! From meeting for coffee dates on Marshall Street to late nights at Lucy's, they fell for each other. And the rest they say, is history.
Gary proposed to Emily on Friday, December 13, 2019, at a holiday party hosted by close friends. And in typical New York fashion, the subway was delayed causing great angst for Gary. They still laugh to this day about how baffled Emily was as Gary rushed her through the streets of Brooklyn. They finally arrived at the restaurant and Gary was not about to wait one more minute. He got down on one knee, presented Emily with a gorgeous diamond, and popped the question! A shell shocked Emily nearly fainted. As a bonus, Emily's dad sent six dozen red roses. A dozen for each year they’d been together.
Gary and Emily have lived in Hoboken, NJ for over five years. They love the sense of community, proximity to the city, and its old-school charm. On May 14, 2021, Emily and Gary's original wedding date, their good friend and neighbor, Andre Ross, officiated an intimate ceremony at one of their favorite local restaurants. Covid may have changed their May wedding plans, but in July of 2022, they’ll be celebrating their marriage with a nuptial mass and reception in the company of ALL of their family and friends.
