Question

What is a Gele? Will there be someone to help me with putting it on?

Answer

A Gele is a traditional headwrap that women wear during Traditional Nigerian Wedding ceremonies. They work best with your hair in an updo. We will have someone who can tie Gele for anyone who would like one, but you must purchase the fabric beforehand. Fabric costs $50 for the women, and it will cost $20 to have someone tie it. If you would like to do this, you need to alert either the Bride or the Groom/Grooms family by April 1st the latest.

Question

Are kids welcome?

Answer

Yes! We know many people have travelled far and wide to celebrate our union, so please feel welcome to bring the children along.

Question

I have a food allergy, can I make a special request?

Answer

Please alert us to any allergies on your RSVP. All food will be served buffet-style. There will be a spread of Traditional Nigerian Foods. There will be vegetarian and vegan options available.

Question

Is there music and dancing?

Answer

Absolutely! Expect live cultural dancing and a fantastic DJ. Guests “spray money” on the couple as a blessing of prosperity. Spraying money is optional but appreciated. Gently place money on the couple as they dance; it’s seen as a joyful blessing.
