How we met

September 2012

David and I met at the London Olympic Victory Parade in September 2012. I had just started my semester study aboard program and the end of the Olympics was in the first week. I was interested in seeing all the athletes for Team GB and experiencing a small part of the Olympics. David had come up from Burgess Hill that day to see the parade as well. We happened to be watching the parade at the same spot and started talking while we were waiting for it to begin. I randomly picked the location while David picked it because it was near where he went to University. We talked throughout the entire parade and afterwards him being the gentleman he is offered to take me to his favorite fish and chip shop nearby. We ate our fish and chips in a nearby park and afterwards we decided to exchange contact information. In my mind I had just met a new friend but I am glad it turned out to be so much more.

Our Proposal

October 13, 2019

David and I got engaged in Atlanta on October 13, 2019. While I knew it was coming because we picked the ring out together and used my grandmother's stone I did not know how he was going to propose and I was anxious and excited to see how he was going to do it. After a fun day of sightseeing and being a tourist, David and I went to a nice steak dinner. The food was delicious and it was special. After dinner and dessert we walked back to Centennial Park where we had been earlier that day. David found a spot that had good lighting and kinda got on one knee. He was wearing a nice suit that he needed for the conference and it had been raining so I didn't want to make him get his suit dirty. He started talking and after a few words I immediately burst into tears. I was worried I would not cry since I knew it was happening this weekend but the emotion and excitement overwhelmed me. I stopped long enough for David to get through his speech and ask me. Of course I said yes. Marrying him has been all I wanted over the last 7 years and I was excited to begin that process and have him be my partner for life. He put the ring on my finger and we hugged. I was crying and he teared up a little bit. We put it back into the box to get back to the hotel to be safe. It was a good thing too because there was a person who started screaming at us as we headed to MARTA - starting an engagement by being mugged might have been a bad omen! We forgot to take pictures of the exact moment or after because we were both so happy.

Our Wedding

David and I got married on June 1st in Brighton at the Hilton Brighton Metropole. We had a small intimate ceremony with just our families. It was a beautiful sunny day at the seaside and we are looking forward to celebrating our marriage with you.
