After meeting through mutual friends, we bonded over video games and a love of cats becoming fast friends before the universe shifted and we began dating in mid-2015. After two years together, Colleen completed community college and asked Mark if he wanted to move out to Moorhead, Minnesota (of all places!) so Colleen could continue school. With a yes and some late night essays, multiple jobs, and now seven years since the beginning, we've settled happily into our early careers next to the Red River. Cheers to many more!
When we were signed up for an art class at the Plains Art Museum, Mark jokingly said, "What, are you going to propose to me then?" Of course there was denial but then there was a second thought "Oh, he's onto me." Thankfully the proposal was still a surprise! The Printing-in-Pairs screen printing class was a blast and Mark was much more focused on creating his masterpiece to notice that Colleen had quietly swapped out a screen for a pre-made one. In their own handwriting, a message: Will you marry me? Mark pulled the screen, taken back by surprise to find Colleen down on one knee behind him. We'll be the best masterpiece in the whole museum!
The more we discussed it, a traditional wedding just didn’t feel like the right kind of celebration for us. We wanted a private, intimate day where we could quietly celebrate our love without the pressure and attention of a large gathering. On this momentous day, it was perfect and true to our vision.
