She thought that Efrain had a cute smile but didn't have the greatest photos but thought to give him a shot so she swiped up on him! From then on they started texting and had their first phone call after Efrain had just gotten back from a trip. Both of them didn't expect much when the call was planned and neither had thought that they'd be on the call for long but since that night, they've never spent a day not talking to each other. That next week they had many other calls and had a FaceTime call that prompted Efrain to go on a spontaneous trip to Colorado to see Elaina! For the next four months Elaina and Efrain were long distance while traveling to Utah or Colorado every couple of weeks.
