The Wedding Website of Effie Rawlings and Mateo Nube
It's all going down at the Occidental Arts and Ecology Center, a place that has impacted our lives individually and as a couple. In fact, it's where we met! Its a bit rustic by city folk standards, but beautifully curated. Most of the photos of us you'll see on this website were taken there. On this day, we will exchange vows and receive the blessings of our guests, as we commit to one another, sync together the momentum of our lives, and pledge to share all we have with one another, roses and thorns. We will invite all present to participate and weave the ceremony alongside us. That doesn't mean you have to say anything. Your loving presence, quiet or vocalized, is why we want you with us. We'll cap it off with a thoughtfully prepared meal and LIVE music from a band you may have heard of...

Commitment Ceremony & Reception

3:00 pm - 10:00 pm

Occidental Arts & Ecology Center
15290 Coleman Valley Rd, Occidental, CA 95465

Attire: We invite jewel tones, earth tones, neons, and black! You can even wear white if you want, cause you know the bride won't be. You will traverse a garden/grassy area, with some light slopes and stairs, so please keep that in mind when choosing shoes. Most importantly, we encourage you to wear what helps you connect to the present moment and/or the sacred.

DISCLAIMER: We want our ceremony to be a joyfully diverse interfaith space, with no dominant spiritual tradition presiding. The ceremony will include a circle time in which all are invited to share prayers, blessings, or words of support for the couple in the manner that feels authentic for them. Guests are also invited to bring special items from home to build a community altar. Guests will likely come from various traditions, including but not limited to Atheism, Christianity, Judaism, Paganism, Santería, etc. Our Officiant, chosen because she is a close friend, happens to come from the Native American Church. If this approach isn't your cup of tea, we invite you to *not* push yourself. It is important to us that those present hold a collective spirit of goodwill. We intend to pay visits soon to folks who don't make the ceremony, and we are excited to extend the celebration in that way over the months to come! Ceremony will be at 3:00pm. Dinner will be at 5:00pm

For all the days along the way
